Public’s help sought in identifying man who robbed Howell bank

Law enforcement authorities are asking the public to help identify a man who robbed the TD Bank at 4280 Route 9 south, Howell, on the morning of Aug. 6. HOWELL — The Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office is seeking the public’s assistance in identifying and locating the individual who committed a bank robbery in Howell on Aug. 6.

According to a press release from the prosecutor’s office, on Aug. 6 at approximately 9:44 a.m., a black male entered and then robbed the TD Bank at 4280 Route 9 south in Howell. The prosecutor’s office, the Howell Police Department and the FBI immediately commenced a joint investigation into the robbery.

The investigation revealed that the man waited in line before approaching the sole teller who was on duty in the bank at that time. The man handed the teller a note that threatened the use a gun and demanded cash. After receiving an undisclosed amount of U.S. currency, the man left the bank. The man was last observed fleeing south on Route 9 on a mountain bicycle.

The man is described as being in his 20s to 40s, and between 5 feet 3 inches and 5 feet 9 inches in height, with a thin build. The man was last seen wearing a purple short-sleeve T-shirt with a “Zoo York” emblem printed on the front, a purple Chicago Bears baseball cap over a black wave cap or bandanna, sunglasses, long blue denim shorts, white socks and all-white sneakers.

Any members of the public who may have witnessed a man fitting the description of the robber in the area of the bank around the time of the robbery or who may have information that would likely assist law enforcement authorities in determining the man’s identity and/or in locating him are asked to contact Detective Michael Clancy of the Monmouth County Prosecutor’s Office at 1-800-533-7443, Detective Nancy Carroll of the Howell Police Department at 732- 938-4575 and/or Special Agent Bruce Kammerman of the FBI’s Red Bank Field Office at 732-741-0006.

Members of the public who believe they know the current location of the individual who committed this robbery should not make any attempt to apprehend the individual themselves. Rather, the local police department should be contacted by immediately telephoning 911, according to the press release.
