Memorial concert
Saturday, Aug. 14 – The second annual Benefit Concert for a Better World, in memory of Emily Silverstein of Roosevelt, will be held at 7:30 p.m. at the Roosevelt Public School. Ms. Silverstein was slain on April 9, 2009, while a sophomore at Gettysburg College.
The event will feature the Jackson-based band Mad Feather Group, with host and Emily Fund board member Cecelia Tickin on vocals. There will be a suggested donation of $5.
MOMS Open House Playdate
Wednesday, Aug. 18 – The MOMS Club of Robbinsville-East will hold an Open House Park Playdate at 10:30 a.m. at Robbinsville Community Park on West Manor Way (near Sharon school). This event is open to the public. The club is a support group for at-home mothers living in Robbinsville.

Helping Hands fundraiser
Saturday, Aug. 21 – A yard sale to benefit the Helping Hands Food Pantry of New Egypt will be held from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 31 Evergreen Road, New Egypt. Refreshments will be available for a small fee and freewill offerings will be accepted. For more information, call 732-644-8335.
Heart Walk
Sunday, Sept. 12 – The American Heart Association’s Greater Mercer Start! Heart Walk will be held at Mercer County Park Marina in West Windsor. You can join thousands in the fight against heart disease and stroke – New Jersey’s No. 1 and No. 3 leading causes of death – by supporting life-saving research and education.

Golf tournament
Friday, Oct. 1 – The Allentown Upper Freehold Lions Club will hold its annual Edward "Pop" Rockhill Memorial Golf Tournament at Gambler Ridge Golf Course. Lunch is at noon. Shotgun start is at 1 p.m. with dinner and prizes to follow. The entry fee is $125 per person, which includes beverages, lunch, dinner, greens fee, carts and prizes.

Fall Festival
Saturday, Sunday, Oct. 9-10 – The Allentown Business Community Association is sponsoring this longtime event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Activities include live entertainment, an antique car show, a petting zoo, pony rides, make-your-own scarecrows and a Civil War encampment.

Free paper shredding
Saturday, Oct. 23 – Robbinsville Township will hold a free residential paper-shredding event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or until truck is filled) at the township firehouse, 1149 Route 130 North. Rain or shine. Proof of township residency required: driver’s license, tax bill or utility bill.
BRING: paper material and file folders, receipts, bills, financial statements or anything you have not recycled for confidentiality concerns. One hundred pound limit. DO NOT BRING: books, magazines and newspapers. These items can be disposed of through the regular curbside pickup service.

Farm market – The Millstone Township Agricultural Advisory Council is sponsoring a Community Farm Market every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The farm market will be held at the municipal parking lot located at 470 Stage Coach Road (Route 571) and will feature locally grown produce, eggs, honey, plants and flowers. MOMS Clubs – The MOMS Club of Upper Freehold/Allentown holds its monthly meetings the first Thursday of each month at 10 a.m. at the Allentown Presbyterian Church, 20 High St.. The club offers low- or no-cost monthly calendar events for all age groups that include day trips, play groups, clubs, community service projects and MOMS Night Out.
The public is welcome to come meet the club members and learn about the international, nonprofit organization that offers local, stay-at-home and part-time working moms support and the opportunity to share activities and experiences with other local moms and their children.

Horsemen’s Association of Millstone Township –This nonprofit group, which raises funds and awareness regarding equine activities, rescues, adoptions, and education, meets at 7:30 p.m. on the third Tuesday of each month in the township Community Center, adjacent to the Fire Department on Stage Coach Road.
Discussing books – The Plumsted branch of the Ocean County Library has a book discussion group that meets on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 p.m. Registration can be done in person, by phone at 609-758-7888 or online at www.theoceancountylibrary.org.
Robbinsville networking – The Robbinsville Business Networking Group meets at 9:30 a.m. on the first and third Wednesdays of the month. The group is intended for entrepreneurs and business owners who have school-age children, and holds family-oriented community events, sponsored by members, at local establishments.
