‘Meet the Mayor’ on Saturday

Mayor Michael Powers wants to meet with township residents, and he plans to hold the eighth in a series of "Meet the Mayor" sessions Saturday between 10 a.m. and 11 a.m. at Great Looks for Less at the Mercer Mall.
Mayor Powers will be available to answer questions and seek comment from township residents at the restaurant. Mayor Powers said residents are encouraged to bring up any matter that concerns them.
When he served as mayor in 2006, Mayor Powers said, he took Township Council "on the road" and held meetings at the Lawrenceville, Lawrence Road and Slackwood firehouses. But it was still a little too formal for outreach, he said.
"This is a more informal effort. It’s an opportunity for people to ask questions in an informal setting, and it’s a way to promote local businesses," he said of the Meet the Mayor series.
Previous "Meet the Mayor" sessions have taken place at Michael’s Restaurant on Brunswick Pike, Candela’s Pizzeria and Restaurant on Lawn Park Avenue, Amalfi’s on the Lawrenceville-Pennington Road, Vidalia on Phillips Avenue in the village of Lawrenceville, Captain Paul’s Firehouse Dogs on Princeton Pike and the Pretzel Factory on Brunswick Pike.
