Jackson Memorial High School ice hockey goalie Kevin Lebron was named the Most Valuable Player for the Ocean County team that took a 2-0 lead before Monmouth County surged back to claim a 6-2 victory at the 13th annual Shore High School All-Star Hockey Game played at the Red Bank Armory in Red Bank on Aug. 8.
Proceeds went toward the Jim Dowd Foundation’s annual cause, which was the Brick Township Hockey Club’s new Challenger program serving youngsters and teens with special needs.
It was the first time since 2006 that the summer all-star game was decided by more than one goal. Monmouth County leads the series, 8-4.
Joint Base McGuire- Dix-Lakehurst is scheduled to host the 2010 “Beast of the East” Mud Run on Sept. 11. The Mud Run is a day of challenges, competitions, creative costumes and offers a good excuse to play in the mud, rain or shine. This event is open to the public.
The 10K course will take runners slipping and sliding through a variety of terrain and obstacles on asphalt, dirt, water holes and mud pits. Registration is now open and will close on Sept. 3. Participants will not be able to register on the day of the event.
Runners are encouraged to don their most creative costumes. An award will be presented to the runner with the best costume after the race.
Entertainment, food and displays will be available for Mud Run spectators.
