Sunday, Aug. 22 – The Hightstown Parks and Recreation Commission will hold the Summer Concert by the Lake from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. with Philly Gumbo. Also planned are paddle boat rides starting at 3 p.m. and a Classic Car Show Off.
Golf Classic
Monday, Aug. 30 – Hightstown Engine Company No. 1 is sponsoring its 14th annual Golf Classic at Peddie Golf Course. For $125 per person or $500 for a foursome, you will receive golf fee with cart, refreshments throughout the day, lunch (hot dogs, hamburgers, beverages) from 11 a.m. to noon, and a buffet dinner at the Firehouse Balllroom at 5 p.m., where cash awards for the top three foursomes, longest drive, straight test drive and closest to the pin will be awarded.

Church golf event
Thursday, Sept. 2 – The New Hope Church of God Golf Classic will be held at Peddie Golf Course. Registration will start at 11:15 a.m. with a shotgun start at 12:30 p.m. The cost is $125. Proceeds will support New Hope’s vision for expansion and increased support of the local East Windsor/Hightstown community with food distribution to the needy, the emotionally and spiritually challenged.For more information, contact Paul Redwood at 732-642-7188.
Exhibition of sculptures
Friday, Sept. 10 – The Mariboe Gallery at Peddie School will hold an opening reception for an exhibition of sculptures by Boston-based artist Sachiko Akiyama from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., with an artist talk at approximately 7:15. The exhibition will run through Oct. 4.

Heart Walk
Sunday, Sept. 12 – The American Heart Association’s Greater Mercer Start! Heart Walk will be held at Mercer County Park Marina in West Windsor. Bowling fundraiser
Saturday, Sept. 18 – The Next Level Youth Skate Program is holding this event from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at East Windsor Bowl, Route 33. The price, which includes shows, will be $20 for ages 18 and older; and $15 for ages 17 and under. Registration is not required.
Operation Medicine Cabinet
Saturday, Sept. 25 – East Windsor will participate in this event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Operation Medicine Cabinet 2010 is a program sponsored by the New Jersey office of the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration offering residents the opportunity to dispose of all unused, unwanted and expired prescription medications in a safe manner. The township will have a drop box in the lobby of the police building, at 80 One Mile Road, for the collection of these various medicines.
KidsTriathlon
Saturday, Sept. 25 – Hightstown’s second annual Kids Triathlon will begin at 3:30 p.m. It will be comprised of a 100-yard swim, a 3-mile bike ride, and a 1-mile run. Sprint Triathlon
Sunday, Sept. 26 – Hightstown’s third annual Sprint Triathlon, which supports Parks and Recreation programs, will begin at 7:30 a.m.The course will be comprised of a quarter-mile swim, a 12-mile bike ride and a 3.1-mile run. Psychic Fair
Sunday, Sept. 26 – This event will be held from noon to 4 p.m. at East Windsor Volunteer Fire Co. #1, 51 One Mile Road. The cost is $20 per reading. For an appointment, call 371-2867.
Hometown Harvest Fair
Saturday, Oct. 9 – Hightstown’s annual event will run from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Continuous entertainment will be provided at the lakeside stage and the fountain at The Point, along with the traditional 5K race, chili cook-off, Ducky Derby, pedal boats on the lake, and about 200 vendors and organizations. The Children’s Pavilion will include a moonbouncer and slide, a stilt-walker/juggler, balloonist, ponies to ride and baby animals to pet. And new to the fair this year will be a scarecrow contest, an OctoberFest with wine and beer tastings, strolling musicians, a train show, farmer’s market and trolley cars to provide transportation.

House tour
Sunday, Oct. 17 – Have you ever driven past beautiful, historic homes in Hightstown and wondered what they look like inside? You will have a chance from 1 p.m. to-5 p.m. during the Hightstown-East Windsor Historical Society’s biannual house tour. Entitled "The Way We Were," this tour will feature five private homes as well as Musing Antiques (located in one of Hightstown’s oldest buildings) and the Hightstown Grange #96 and Masonic Lodge.
Advance-sale tickets cost $17 for adults and $5 for children. They are on sale at Perennial Home at 119 W. Ward St., Old Hights Print Shop at 177 Mercer St., and Hair by Sharon at 128 Stockton St., all in Hightstown. In East Windsor, they are available at Weichert Realtors at 417 Route 130.

Help for MOMS – The MOMS Club of East Windsor/Hightstown is a support group for at-home moms. The East chapter is for moms who live east of Route 130 and generally meets the second Monday of every month at 10 a.m. at Twin Rivers Library. The West chapter is for moms who live west of Route 130 and generally meets the first Tuesday of every month at 10 a.m. at Hickory Corner Library.
The groups offer a wide range of activities, including play groups for children, park play days, day trips, arts and crafts, and get-togethers for the entire family. Farmer’s market – Hightstown’s weekly Farmers’ Market is open every Friday from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. through the last Friday of September. Hosted by the Parks and Recreation Commission and Downtown Hightstown Inc., the market is located at Memorial Park on Main Street, overlooking Peddie Lake. The market features produce, flowers and goods grown on nearby family-owned farms. In July and August there also will be local musical entertainment. Kids Club – Join this club at the First Presbyterian Church of Hightstown for games, crafts, stories, music, dinner and fun on Wednesday evenings from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Contact Mary at the church, 448-0055, for registration and more information.
Kosher Cafe – The Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Greater Mercer County presents the Kosher Cafe East program at 12:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month at the Beth El Synagogue, 50 Maple Stream Road, East Windsor.

Kosher Meals on Wheels – The Jewish Family & Children’s Service of Greater Mercer County offers a Kosher Meals on Wheels program to individuals age 60 and older, and to individuals of any age with disabilities, who cannot shop for and/or prepare their own meals. Up to five hot kosher meals a week are delivered directly to the individual’s home at a cost of $5 per meal. Scholarships are available.
