MUA implements voluntary water conservation policy

EAST WINDSOR – Due to the hot and dry weather conditions experienced over the last several weeks, the township Municipal Utilities Authority is asking all residents, businesses and developments to voluntarily conserve water, particularly when it comes to lawn watering and other outdoor and indoor non-essential uses.
The EWMUA is passing along suggested water conservation tips from the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection:
– Do not overwater lawns and landscaping. Two times per week for 30 minutes in morning or late evening typically is sufficient.
– Use a hose with a hand-held nozzle to water flowers and shrubs
– To save water at home, fix leaking faucets and pipes.
– Turn off the faucet while brushing teeth and shaving.
– Run washing machines and dishwashers only when full.
– Use a broom to sweep sidewalks, rather than a water hose.
– Avoid washing cars and trucks or topping off swimming pools.
Up-to-date information about the water supply situation, including water use restrictions, can be found on the EWMUA website, www.eastwindsormau.com.
