Book series launch: Best-selling teen author Cassandra Clare releases the first in her new "Infernal Devices" Series at 7 p.m, at the Princeton Barnes & Noble, 3535 US Route 1 South at the MarketFair Mall, West Windsor. "Films for Foodies": Four films with food as a theme will be screened this fall as part of the Princeton Public Library’s "Films for Foodies" series, co-sponsored by the library and Mediterra Restaurant. After viewing the film at 6 p.m., participants can dine at nearby Mediterra, where special menu items based on the theme of the movie will be available at discount prices. First in the series on Sept. 1 is "Fried Green Tomatoes," directed by Jon Avnet and based on a novel by Fannie Flagg. An unhappy housewife befriends an old lady in a nursing home and is enthralled by her tales of people she used to know. Bike tour of D&R Canal: The Delaware & Raritan Canal Watch will hold a free history tour by bicycle along the D & R Canal. Participants will meet at 10 a.m. at the canal’s Griggstown parking lot, along the Griggstown Causeway in Franklin Township. Canal enthusiast Bob Barth will conduct the ride, which will stop at historic villages and canal structures, such as locks and swing bridges. He will explain why the D&R was one of the most successful canals in the United States.Helmets are required and cyclists are advised to bring water and a snack for the ride, which will last approximately three hours. Grand Indo-American Fair: Celebrating India and America, Sept. 4 and 5, Mercer County Park, West Windsor. Pixar flicks: A new film series at Princeton Public Library will bring four classics from the Pixar animation studios to the library’s Community Room this fall.
