Maureen Haley of Freehold has announced the formation of the Children’s Chorus of Freehold, a tuition-based group that is now seeking members for the chorus.
According to a press release, the CCF will provide an enriching and supportive environment for boys and girls in the Freehold area — Colts Neck, Freehold Township, Freehold Borough, Marlboro, Manalapan and Howell — to sing with others of their own skill level and to work intensely on harmony, repertoire and singing technique.
“Through dedicated participation in this organization, and with the performance of varied and outstanding choral literature, students develop social skills, self-discipline and an appreciation for each other, as well as self-expression,” said Haley, who is a veteranmusic teacher. “It is our intent that these young singers will increase community appreciation of the arts in general and the power of choral singing in particular through their dedication to the choral art, their performances, and in the future, their collaboration with municipal and outreach groups.”
Haley is a professional singer in New York and New Jersey as well as a music educator. She accompanies school choruses in the area, teaches voice and piano privately, and is a Kodaly-certified music educator. She was formerly on the faculty in the Colts Neck School District, where she taught vocal music, instrumental music, and directed the elementary school’s choral program. She is now working with middle and high school choirs in the Jackson school district.
