BORDENTOWN CITY After four successful years at 316 Farnsworth Ave, Under the Moon will be moving to a new location.
The restaurant will be taking over the former location of Mug & Muffin, just down the street at 210 Farnsworth Ave. The move should occur sometime this October.
More space for diners and a larger kitchen are the primary reasons for the move according to co-owner Santiago Orosco.
Prior to Mug & Muffin’s closing, there hadn’t been any plans to move the business, but once the opportunity presented itself, it was too good to pass up.
“There are some nights we have to turn customers away because we can only seat 30 people,” Mr. Orosco said, concluding that the new location’s more spacious dining area will alleviate this problem.

Mr. Orosco also said it had initially been difficult to establish a client base because the restaurant was tucked far from the center of Farnsworth Avenue. The new space is closer to the heart of the city, making it more likely that hungry passersby will see it.
Space and location complications aside, Under the Moon’s business is still doing well even though revenues are down everywhere due to the economy, he said
The restaurant, which scored a positive New York Times review in the fall of 2008, is well known in Bordentown for its unique atmosphere that omits tablecloths from the tables and mismatches plates intentionally.
Mr. Orosco anticipates little change to the décor and will strive for a similar appearance, one that he described as being “quaint.”
At present, no exact date has been given for Under the Moon’s relocation.
