An Adesa Auto Auctions employee reported a white 2007 Land Rover, valued at $30,600, and a blue 2007 Land Rover, valued at $37,800, missing from the North Main Street property at 12:04 p.m. Aug. 23. Both vehicles were entered in the National Crime Information Center database.
Joseph McCormick, 25, of Newark Avenue, was charged with shoplifting a paintball gun, valued at $129, and a compressed air container, valued at $27, at 9:41 p.m. Aug. 23. Walmart store security reported observing Mr. McCormick remove the items from the packet, and attempt to conceal the items in his pants. Store security reported stopping him in the parking lot, and called police. He was released on $500 bail.
At 4:55 p.m. Aug. 24, an Adesa Auto Auctions employee reported a black 2009 Mercedes Benz, valued at $112,000, and a blue 2007 Porsche 911, valued at $75,000, missing from the North Main Street property. Both vehicles were entered in the National Crime Information Center database.
A Hillsborough resident came to police headquarters at 9:31 a.m. Aug. 29, to report his vehicle had been entered while parked outside Sacred Heart Church, on South Main Street, earlier in the day. The man reported a wallet containing a New Jersey driver’s license, a Social Security card, a green card, and an American Express card missing from the vehicle. An investigation into the theft is pending, police said.
