West Amwell and Lambertville
West Amwell Township police reported:
— On Aug. 22 at 2:49 a.m., police went to a residence on Elm Street in Lambertville to investigate a case involving a 24-year-old woman, who was physically assaulted, allegedly by a boyfriend, in a field area off Goat Hill Road in the township.
The investigation determined that the 24-year-old man allegedly responsible for the assault resided in Holland Township. Initial information indicated that the suspect had fled into a wooded area where the assault had taken place. Police from Lambertville assisted township officers with the search and it was determined that he was not in the wooded area.
Township police then were assisted by troopers from the New Jersey State Police, Kingwood Station. They went to the address and took the individual into custody. He was transported to the Hunterdon County Jail where Patrolman Edward Skillman charged Harry G. Naylor Jr. with aggravated assault and making terrorist threats. He was lodged in the jail in default of $10,000 cash bail The victim was treated by Lambertville-New Hope First Aid Squad.
— On Aug. 22 at 3:10 p.m., Christopher Green of Woodens Lane reported that his white Ford F-250 pickup truck had been stolen from the driveway of his residence. Patrolman Timothy Vanselous began an investigation, acting on information regarding a person of interested who resides in the New Hope, Pa., area. The officer located the stolen vehicle in the parking lot of Staples in New Hope, while trying to locate and question the subject. The investigation is continuing.
— On Aug. 22 at 5:55 p.m., police received a report about an alleged intoxicated driver just leaving a residence on Route 179 and proceeding south. Police spotted the vehicle and Richard Hasse Jr., 59, of Furlong, Pa., was taken into custody by Patrolman Anthony Goccia. He was charged with failure to maintain lane control, possession of an open container of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and driving while intoxicated. He was released to a friend after processing.
Lambertville police reported:
— On Aug. 24, George Hazelrigg, 38, of Titusville turned himself in at police headquarters to satisfy a motor vehicle warrant out of Princeton Borough. Mr. Hazelrigg posted bail in the amount of $190 and was released.
— On Aug. 25, Officer Michael Gramlich stopped Michael A. Traurig, 43, of Stockton, on North Franklin Street for a headlight out. Mr. Traurig was subsequently charged with DWI, refusal to submit to a breath test, possession of suspected marijuana, maintenance of lamps, failure to exhibit a valid registration, suspended drivers license and reckless driving. Mr. Traurig was released.
— On Aug. 25, Jiminez-Avila, 22, of Lambertville, turned himself in at police headquarters on a motor vehicle warrant . Mr. Avila posted bail in the amount of $500 and was released.
— On Aug. 29, Wayne P. Carberry, 42, of Penndel, Pa., was stopped by Sgt. Robert Brown on Route 29 for failure to keep right. Mr. Carberry was subsequently charged with possession of drug paraphernalia (a crack pipe commonly used to smoke crack cocaine), failure to keep right, failure to exhibit a drivers license and CDS in a motor vehicle. A warrant out of Trenton Municipal Court also was found for $632. Mr. Carberry posted bail was released.
— On Aug. 28, Sgt. Brown saw Megan E. Loss, 26, of Lambertville, urinating on Route 165 near Route 518. Ms. Loss was charged with disorderly conduct, and depositing waste material on street. She was released.
— On Aug. 28, Officer Michael O’Rourke received a report about a vehicle traveling north on Route 29 on the rim. Steven C. East, 49, of Langhorne, Pa., was subsequently charged with DWI, driving with a suspended driver’s license, careless driving, and reckless driving. Mr. East was released to a friend.
— On Aug, 28, Sgt. Brown stopped Shari A. Swansboro, 51, of Lambertville, on Route 518 for failure to keep right. Ms. Swansboro was subsequently charged with DWI, reckless driving, and failure to keep right. She was released to a friend.
— On Aug. 29, Officer Sharon Polyak stopped Ricardo Scariatella, 39, of Hopewell Township, on Route 29 at the Laceworks Complex, for speeding. Mr. Scariatella was subsequently charged with DWI, speeding and careless driving. He was released to a friend.
— On Aug, 29, Trevor C. Burns, 27, of Keansburg, was stopped on Alexauken Creek Road by Sgt. Brown for speeding. Mr. Burns was subsequently charged with possession of suspected marijuana, drug paraphernalia (a glass pipe commonly used to smoke marijuana), and drugs in a motor vehicle after the officer smelled burnt marijuana coming from within the vehicle. Mr. Burns also was charged with speeding and released.
— On Aug. 30, Stephen G. Somers, 51, of Cinnaminson, was stopped by Sgt. Brown on Route 29 for failure to maintain lane and for obstructing traffic. Mr. Somers was subsequently charged with DWI, obstructing traffic, failure to maintain lane, and reckless driving. He was released to a friend.
— On Aug. 30, Alexander R. Knechel, 26, of Lambertville, was charged with DWI by Officer Gramlich. Mr. Knechel was released to a friend.
