Har Sinai Temple will hold its afternoon Rosh Hashanah services for young children at its 2421 Pennington Road at Denow Road West campus. Services begin on Sept. 8 at 8 p.m., the eve of Jewish New Year. On Sept. 9 at 10 a.m., a Rosh Hashanah morning service will be held at Hopewell Valley Central High School’s Performing Arts Center. The junior congregation service begins at 11 a.m. in the high school cafeteria. Both services conclude at 12:30 p.m. The young children’s service moves to Har Sinai at 2 p.m. followed by a 2:30 p.m. Tashlich in the temple at which all ages are welcome. The community Tashlich service is a "bring your own bread" event at which pieces of bread are cast into water as a symbol of casting off sin. Sept. 9 events conclude at the temple with a 3 p.m. "Mr. Applehead" celebration at which children decorate apples with candy, with the fruit serving as a symbol of the holiday. Tickets to all adult services are available to members at no charge and are necessary for the high holiday services. No one will be admitted without a ticket. The temple will hold its final summer outdoor Shabbat service Sept. 3 at 7 p.m., weather permitting. On Sept. 8 at 8 p.m., there is a Erev Rosh Hashanah service. Registration for the new school year is open. Titusville Presbyterian – On Sept. 5, worship is at 10 a.m., led by the Rev. Patrick Johnson and the Rev. Barbara Chaapel, who will celebrate the Sacrament of Holy Communion and baptizing Virginia Elizabeth Shurley, infant daughter of Pastors William and Anna Kate Shurley. A nursery and Junior Church are available during worship. At 11:30 a.m., those going to Revelation Generation will leave for a day of Christian music and fellowship. Events include: Sept. 7, business and professional luncheon for those seeking employment; Sept. 9, 8 p.m., adult choir resumes; Sept. 11, second annual "Duck, Duck, Pig" community event. Overnight barbecuing begins on Friday at 10 p.m. Celebration on Saturday is from 1-4 p.m. Barbecue sandwiches for $5 and all-you-can-drink birch beer ($2). Hopewell Presbyterian – On Sept. 5, summer worship is at 9:30 a.m. There is no Sunday School during the summer. Child care is provided during the worship service. Pennington Presbyterian – On Sept. 5, the 9:30 a.m. summer worship service will be held in Heritage Hall. The Rev. Nancy Mikoski will deliver the sermon. A coffee hour follows the worship service. Church School classes for all ages will resume on Rally Day, Sept. 12. The church, located at 13 S. Main St., has a variety of services to accommodate those with special needs. Handicapped parking is available in the rear of the church building along with a ramp to provide easy access to the sanctuary. Hopewell Methodist – On Sept. 5, morning worship begins at 10 a.m. The morning message, "The Life of Value," will be given by the Rev. Dr. Kenneth A. Robinson. During the service, children’s Sunday school meets and a nursery is provided for infants and toddlers. Adult Church School classes meet at 9 a.m. Child care is provided during adult Sunday school.
