12th Congressional District needs Scott Sipprelle

12th CD needs
Scott Sipprelle
To the editor:
Addressing all the residents of the 12th Congressional District so dismally represented by Rep. Rush Holt: What has he done for the district during his almost 10 years in Washington?
He has been paid close to $2 million, invested in a great retirement plan and participated in a fantastic, for-government-officials-only health care plan.
He has routinely voted to keep all of us at a fiscal and health disadvantage while our earning capacity has gone down, down, down. Yet our costs have gone up, up, up!
Isn’t it time we flushed Rush and put a far better self-made man in Washington to handle our affairs? Absolutely, yes. And there is such a man ready, willing and able to get New Jersey’s 12th CD, the state and America back on the path to smaller, more efficient and people-oriented government.
Scott Sipprelle is that man. His website, www.supportscott2010.com, presents eight vital areas where major improvements can be made. I know he got my attention with his intelligent approach to getting America back on track. Treat yourself to a look at the site.

Revaluation ‘do-over’
or just a ‘do-again?’
To the editor:
Will a "do-over" of Princetons’ reassessments just be a "do-again?"
If we do reassess again with the same extraction method, we will likely get the same result. The flaw is in the methodology used — making land more valuable than housing. Subtraction is the norm.
Besides there are families right now unable to pay their taxes. And the only solution for these families I heard from council was to strip them of their equity so they could die in their homes but leave nothing to their children or grandchildren. That is equity stripping and gentrification on steroids brought to us by our locally elected government. And ASI knew it and even acknowledged it as we heard from the others at last week’s Borough Council meeting.
Shame on all of you for allowing this method to be used, which I understand had not been used in the past revaluations. It is understood by many that both governing bodies knew that this method would redistribute the taxes from the larger homes to the smaller homes and properties. Again shame on all of you. I suggest we all vote Republican for borough and township council.

Montgomery needs
Trzaska and Graham
To the editor:
My husband and I moved to Montgomery over six years ago and we instantly fell in love with our new hometown. We quickly became avid hikers of the Sourland Mountain Preserve and bike riders on the Delaware-Raritan Canal.
Over the years, my husband has gotten more and more involved in community service in our Pike Run neighborhood and throughout town. Ed currently serves on Montgomery’s Planning Board as an advisor and is a member of the Pike Run Homeowners Association.
Ed is now running for Township Committee. This probably won’t surprise anyone reading this, but I truly believe that he would be a perfect addition for many reasons. He has an engineering background with an MBA and is always looking for ways to improve things. For example, last fall, we completed an energy efficiency renovation of our home and reduced our energy consumption by 40 percent.
But most importantly, Ed understands the challenges facing many Montgomery residents. He knows that Montgomery is becoming more and more unaffordable to many. In the past, our elected officials have raised taxes and increased township debt without any consideration to the damage this causes. Like all of you, we watched helplessly over the past few years as municipal taxes were increased by 30 percent and township debt skyrocketed to $60 million.
This is why Ed is running. He will help Mayor Mark Caliguire get our financial house in order. He will hold the line on municipal taxes by doing more with less, he will reduce township debt, and he will respect the will of the people when it comes to school budget votes.
On Nov. 2, please vote for my husband, Ed Trzaska, and his running mate, Patricia Graham. They will make Montgomery more affordable.
