Plainsboro, N.J. – Classical saxophonist Richard Hodges will perform at the First Presbyterian Church of Plainsboro at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 18, 2010. He will be assisted by Pianist, John Forconi and Cellist, John Enz. The concert will benefit the Plainsboro Food Pantry.
Mr. Hodges has worked as a music educator and performing artist in Central New Jersey for the past 20 years. He has appeared in concerts and master classes in Europe, Canada, and throughout the United States, including performances at Carnegie Hall in New York City and the World Saxophone Congress in Montreal, Canada.
“I am really looking forward to performing “Aria” by Andre Previn. This is a stunningly beautiful and lyrical work,” said Hodges. The piece was originally composed for voice, cello and piano. The concert will also include Tango music by Astor Piazzolla, along with works by Mozart and Beethoven.
Mr. Hodges current CD “The Road Not Taken” is a compilation of French saxophone masterpieces, including works by Dubois, Koechlin and Pascal. Holding Master degrees from the University of Mississippi and Louisiana State University, he completed additional graduate work at Indiana University and Columbia University. Mr. Hodges is the founder and former conductor of the award winning Saxophone Choir of the Youth Orchestra of Central Jersey, and is currently Head Librarian at the Thomas Nelson Community College – Historic Triangle Campus in Williamsburg, Virginia.
