Someone was charged Monday with driving while intoxicated, refusal to submit to a breath test, reckless driving, unlicensed driver, and uninsured. Police said they responded to the area of Battle Road at 6:10 p.m. for a report of a possible drunk driver and while en route were advised the vehicle had struck a tree on Lovers Lane. Police said they arrived and found the vehicle parked crooked on Battle Road, with the right front tire on the curb. Police said they gave her balance and coordination tests before taking her into custody. She was released to a friend pending court.
Police are seeking a man who allegedly entered a Laurel Road home through a window Monday. Police said an 11-year-old called 911 at 9:15 a.m. to report a man had just entered her residence while she was inside after he first knocked on the locked front door and then the locked back door when she did not answer the front.
Police said a short while later, the girl walked into the dining room and encountered a man, who ran out of the house through the front door. Police said they discovered the man, who was described as having a tattoo visible on his upper arm, entered the house by pushing up a screen and opening an unlocked window.
Jason Schmidt, 39, of Oak Ridge, was taken into custody Aug. 27 for a $120 Trenton traffic warrant. Police said they stopped him at 1:09 a.m. and discovered the warrant. He was later released on $120 bail.
Kyle Parons, 19, of Hillside Avenue, was taken into custody Aug. 25 on an outstanding $1,500 Princeton Township Municipal Court warrant. Police said they saw him walking down Bertrand Drive at 7:29 a.m. and knew he had a warrant in his name. He was sent to the Mercer County Correction Center in lieu of bail.
Noel F. Reyes-Silva, 35, of Easton, Pennsylvania, was taken into custody Aug. 22 on two outstanding warrants from Pohatcong Township Municipal Court totaling $1,350. Police said they saw a vehicle parked in front of a house under construction on Stockton Street at 8:25 a.m., and inside found two workers doing flooring work in violation of a construction ordinance. Police said a warrant check revealed the warrants for one of the workers, Mr. Reyes-Silva, and he was turned over to Pohatcong Township police in lieu of bail.
Rudolf D. Delma, 18, of Leigh Avenue, was taken into custody Aug. 18 for failure to appear. Police said they arrested him at his residence for an outstanding warrant after he did not show up for his Aug. 17 court date in the township court. He was released after a family member posted $250 bail.
Donald D. Pinel, 24, of McKinley Court, Montgomery, was charged with robbery, theft by unlawful taking and possession of a weapon for unlawful purposes after he allegedly approached a 38-year-old woman and demanded her purse, at 2:30 p.m. Aug. 30, police said.
According to police, Mr. Pinel approached the victim on Mount Lucas Road, displayed a hand gun and demanded the purse. Mr. Pinel then took the purse and drove away. Witnesses to the incident provided police with a license plate for the vehicle and Mr. Pinel was taken into custody with assistance by the Montgomery Police Department. He was taken to the Mercer County Detention Center on $250,000 bail.
Plainsboro
Police said someone took a specialized bicycle, valued at $269, from a bike rack at West Windsor-Plainsboro Regional High School North between 2:30 and 5:30 p.m. Wednesday. Police said the victim was a student and Lovell Drive resident who was attending football practice.
Police said someone smashed a large pane of glass on the first floor of the Plainsboro Municipal Library between midnight and 10 a.m. Tuesday. The cost of the glass was estimated at $250.
Police said someone stole a $700 mountain bicycle from in front of a Quail Ridge Drive apartment between 7:50 a.m. and 12:15 p.m. Tuesday.
Police said they responded to a report of theft of services at Ravens Crest Drive Tuesday. Police said a driver from a taxi service reported he took a female passenger from Princeton to Ravens Crest Drive and waited after she said she was exiting to get payment from her residence. After 20 minutes the drive called police, who searched the area but did not find the woman. Police estimated the value of the service at $22.
Megan S Clawges, 20, of Quail Ridge Drive, was charged Sunday with possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana, and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they responded to the 4900 block of Quail Ridge Drive at 1:49 a.m. for a noise complaint and found Ms. Clawges, one of the apartment’s residents, had marijuana intended for distribution as well as several items of drug paraphernalia. Police said they also charged her with violating a township ordinance against excessive noise. She was released on $2,500 bail.
Police said they responded to the parking lot of the PNC Bank on Plainsboro Road Saturday on a report of a criminal mischief complaint. The victim told police someone scratched the letter "A" onto his or her vehicle with a sharp object between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. The cost of the damage was estimated at $100.
Someone stole a red and black child’s Huffy mountain bicycle, valued at $250, from the breezeway on Quail Ridge Drive between Aug. 27 and Monday. Police said they believe an area teenager stole the bike.
Yordy J. Deleon, 18, of Passaic, was charged Saturday with underage driving while intoxicated, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and numerous related charges. Police said they stopped him on Route 1 at Scudders Mill Road at 11:51 p.m. for having an inoperable tail light and for failing to keep right.
Mr. Deleon was also charged with DWI, reckless driving, careless driving, maintenance of lamps, failure to keep right, provisional passenger restriction violation, provisional hours of operation violation, consumption of alcohol in a motor vehicle and having an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle.
Police said they responded to Fox Run Drive at 1:51 p.m. Saturday for a report of a structure fire in progress and arrived to find smoke emanating from the siding of a two-story apartment building. Police said as residents evacuated, the Plainsboro Township Volunteer Fire Department arrived and decisively extinguished the source of the smoke.
No injuries were reported and all but one unit’s residents were able to return quickly. The inhabitants of that single unit were relocated to another apartment provided by Fox Run management, police said. An initial investigation indicates the fire was most likely started in a mulch pile next to the building, and police said further investigation will determine the exact cause.
The other responding units were the Princeton Junction, Cranbury and Princeton Plasma Physics fire departments along with the Plainsboro Township Volunteer Rescue Squad.
Karthik Vaddamani, 23, of Fox Run Drive, was charged Saturday with driving while intoxicated, DWI in a school zone, reckless driving, careless driving, failure to maintain lane, speeding on a sidewalk, and unlicensed driver. In the same incident, vehicle owner Anand Sundramurthy [gwe: police had no other info on him: ]was issued summonses for allowing a DWI to operate and allowing an unlicensed driver to operate.
Police said they responded to Plainsboro Road at Shalks Crossing Road at 3:12 a.m. on a report of a motor vehicle collision and arrived to find a 2004 Ford Mustang approximately 50 feet off the road, in a row of bushes in front of the PNC Bank parking lot. Police said they determined Mr. Vaddamani had been traveling at a high rate of speed and lost control of his vehicle as he approached the intersection, skidding over 240, striking two separate curbs and several wooden stakes, and busting off a water pipe cap. Mr. Sundramurthy was also in the vehicle, but police said neither one of them required medical attention.
Mr. Vaddamani was released on his own recognizance pending court.
Police said someone punctured the tires of a Mercury Mountaineer while it was parked in the lot of Hunters Glen Drive over Saturday night. Police said the cost to replace the tires was estimated at $1,300.
Police said a Mahogany Court resident reported receiving harassing text messages from an unknown sender between 6 and 8 p.m. Aug. 23. Police said the messages referred to files the victim accidentally shared publicly on a music website.
Someone stole a package containing personal identification from the front of a Ravens Crest Drive apartment in building 63 between 5:19 and 6:30 p.m. Aug. 6, police said.
Kyle P. Grant, 27, of Ravens Crest Drive, was charged Aug. 22 with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, failure to maintain lane and making an unsafe lane change. Police said they stopped him at 1:10 a.m. at Scotts Corner Road and Ravens Crest Drive after they saw him cross over the double yellow line on Plainsboro Road before turning onto Scotts Corner Road. He was released on his own recognizance pending court.
A 22-year-old Drayton Lane resident told police someone made $5,147.74 in fraudulent charges using his credit card between May 10 and July 29. Police said the man made the report at 3:32 p.m. Aug. 21 but could provide no leads or suspects.
Umar K Cheema, 19, of Quail Ridge Drive, was charged Aug. 21 with driving while intoxicated, underage DWI, reckless driving, speeding, and violation of a probationary driver’s license. Police said they stopped him on Dey Road at 12:32 a.m. for driving 65 mph on a 50-mph road. He was released to family members pending court.
Daniel E. Pizzi, 28, of Deer Creek Drive, was charged Aug. 21 with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, speeding, unclear plates, and failure to maintain a lane. Police said they stopped him at 12:48 a.m. for failing to maintain a lane and for having unclear plates. He was released on his own recognizance pending court.
Eric C. Schulz, 24, of Fox Run Drive, was charged Aug. 20 with possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, maintenance of lamps, uninsured motor vehicle, unregistered vehicle, failure to notify a change of address and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. Police said they stopped him at 10:10 p.m. on Wyndhurst Drive for having an inoperable brake light and an expired registration He was released on his own recognizance pending court.
James Johnson, 38, of New York, New York, was charged Aug. 20 with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, unsafe vehicle, no headlights, possession of an open container of alcohol and consuming alcohol in a vehicle. Police said they stopped him at 10:17 p.m. on Tamarron Drive after seeing him drive on Plainsboro Road with both passenger-side tires flat and no headlights on.
Police said a victim reported the theft of an iPod Nano music player and cash from his Quail Ridge Drive residence between May 1 and 31. The total value of the items stolen was $270, according to police.
Montgomery
Michael A. Birnbaum, 26, of South Brunswick, was charged Aug. 27 with careless driving. Police said they responded to a motor vehicle crash at Route 601 near Pleasant View Road at 5:19 p.m. Police said Mr. Birnbaum impacted the rear of another vehicle on Route 601 which had stopped for a car making a left turn onto Pleasant View Road. Neither driver was injured in the crash, police said.
West Windsor
Courtney C. Alexander, 19, of Lawrence, and Deborrah I. Agnew, 19, of Princeton were both charged Aug. 27 with possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia. Police said they saw a vehicle on the Washington Road Fete Grounds, which are closed to the public after dark, at 10:38 p.m. Police said they stopped the vehicle and smelled marijuana, and a search revealed fewer than 50 grams of the substance as well as a pipe used to ingest it. Both women were released pending court.
Desiree J. Gaiter, 26, West Windsor resident was charged Aug. 26 with forgery and theft by deception. Police said between July 20 and 29 she stole 10 separate checks from her father, with whom she lived on Gates Court, and forged his name on them. Police said she then cashed the checks at the Sovereign Bank in Southfield Center, stealing a total of $2,300 from her father’s account. Police said she was also served at the time of her arrest with shoplifting stemming from an Aug. 24 offense that took place at McCaffrey’s Food Market on Route 571. She was released pending court.
