Fall Antiques and Fine Arts Show on the horizon
The Historical Society of Princeton will present the 2010 Princeton Fall Antiques and Fine Arts Show on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 25 and 26, at Princeton Airport. For the fifth straight year, the show will be managed by Frank Gaglio of Barn Star Productions of Rhinebeck, N.Y.
The event will transform 20,000 square feet of space into “an enchanting venue” for 55 antiques and fine art dealers from around the U.S. and the U.K. The show will feature 18th-20th century American and European furniture, important paintings, textiles, jewelry, silver, ceramics, prints, Americana, folk art, decorative arts, vintage automobiles, and more.
This year’s Show Café will be presented by Max Hansen Caterers. The parking is free. Admission is $12.
A Preview Gala, on Friday evening, Sept. 24, from 7 to 10 p.m., will kick off the weekend festivities. Valet Parking, Cocktail Dress, Catering by Max Hansen Caterers, and music by the New Hope Collective. Tickets are available by calling the Historical Society at 609-921-6748, ext. 100. Ticket price is $175.
This year’s special guest speaker will be Suzanne Perrault. An expert with “Antiques Roadshow,” Ms. Perrault will present “A Roving Eye,” an inside look at the Robert A. Ellison American Art Pottery Collection at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This special event will be held in the Show Café on Saturday, Sept. 25, at 2:30 p.m.
An Appraisal Clinic, courtesy of Rago Arts and Auction Center of Lambertville, will take place Sunday, Sept. 26, from 1:30 to 3:30 p.m. The fee is $5 for up to two pieces. First come, first served.
All proceeds from the Antiques Show fund the HSP’s core mission activities, including its rotating exhibitions, educational programs for children and families and collections care.
