Phil Volpe, appointed on Sept. 2 to a second term as president of the Hopewell Valley YMCA, is calling for a continued effort to build a YMCA community center in Hopewell Valley.
"I’m psyched to be back, cranking up my efforts on what I think is the best project in town in my generation’s lifetime – to bring home the vision of a YMCA in the Hopewell Valley," Mr. Volpe said.
" One way people can help is by supporting our golf outing, which is Oct 4," Mr. Volpe said. That event will be held at the Hopewell Valley Golf Club, off Route 654.
"We have a great day of golf planned as well as dinner afterwards with an auction," Mr. Volpe said. "Another way to help is to donate raffle items. Beach houses, sporting events tickets, rounds of golf at great country clubs" are examples of good donations, he said.
The YMCA is several years into a fundraising effort for the new community center. Possible locations are: a 13-acre tract, owned by Capital Health System, in northwestern Pennington near Route 31; and the vacant site of a former building supplies business, also off Route 31, in Hopewell Township.
