With more 300 felines available, the Monmouth County Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MCSPCA) hopes to find good homes for most of these cats and kittens through “Kittenpalooza,” a monthlong adoption project.
Once again, summer ends with an overpopulation of cats and kittens, said Francesca Alexander, MCSPCA community cat coordinator.
Anyone looking to adopt a kitten or a cat can find them in all shapes, sizes and colors at the Eatontown-based shelter. Throughout September, the adoption price of cats and kittens has been cut in half. Each adoption fee includes spay/neuter, rabies, distemper vaccinations, deworming, flea treatment, FIV/FeLV testing and a microchip.
While getting the cats adopted is a top priority, the MSPCA also wants to educate the public to spay/neuter cats to help put an end to kitten season. The MCSPCA Vogel Spay/Neuter Clinic offers low-cost spay and neutering. For more information or to schedule an appointment, call 732-542- 3125.
To adopt one of the stars of Kittenpalooza, visit the MCSPCA Homeward Bound Adoption Center at 260 Wall St., Eatontown. The center is open seven days a week, 1-5 p.m. Monday to Friday and noon to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday. More information about the felines up for adoption can be found at www.monmouthcountyspca.org or by calling 732-542-1525.
