POLICE BLOTTER: Week of Sept. 10

Princeton Township
   Vinod K. Lekh, 42, of York Drive, was charged with driving while intoxicated after he was seen driving down the middle of the road and straddling the double-yellow lines on Lover’s Lane at 12:36 a.m. Sept. 4, police said.
   Police said Mr. Lekh’s vehicle was stopped on Route 206 and he was given a field sobriety test. He also was charged with failure to keep right and reckless driving. He was released into the custody of a friend. The traffic stop occurred while Sgt. Geoff Maurer was on patrol as part of the Over the Limit Under Arrest program.

   The Lawrence and Princeton Junction fire departments responded to a report of a brush fire in the area of Route 206 and Ewing Street at 3:10 p.m. Sept. 8.
   Police said they found an area of burning brush and grass extending along the road for approximately 185 feet. The fire was controlled and partially extinguished by patrols on the scene using fire extinguishers and later completely by the fire departments. Route 206 was closed for an hour while the fire was fought.

   Tanga L. Thomas-Crump, 50, of Williams Street, in Trenton, was arrested on an outstanding warrant from the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office for failure to report to court. Ms. Thomas-Crump was stopped in her white Toyota at 10:52 p.m., Sept. 4, for a motor vehicle violation. She was turned over to the Mercer County Sheriff’s Office.
Montgomery
   A 20-year-old East Windsor man sustained minor arm injuries in a one-vehicle crash on Route 206 Wednesday, according to a police report. Police and Montgomery EMS responded to the crash near Belle Mead-Griggstown Road at 12:55 a.m. and found the man had fallen asleep while driving and struck a utility pole, police reported. He was transported to the University Medical Center at Princeton.

   Ethan R. Graf, 19, of Collingswood, was charged Tuesday with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, and he was issued motor vehicle summons for a violation of his provisional driver’s license. Police said they stopped him in his vehicle at 12:55 a.m. after police saw him parked at the Skillman Dairy Farm with his headlights off. Police said a search of the vehicle revealed marijuana in the center console, as well as a glass pipe and a package of rolling papers. Mr. Graf was released on his own recognizance pending court.

   Kelli A. Sanchez, 22, of Kendall Park, was charged Saturday with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, driving while intoxicated, possession of an open container of alcohol in a motor vehicle and careless driving. Police said they responded to a report of a single-car accident in the Belle Mead section of the township at 3:04 a.m. and found she had lost control of her vehicle on Route 533 near Staats Farm Road after trying to avoid a deer. Police said she traveled off the roadway and hit the guardrail, causing heavy front-end damage to her vehicle. Both Ms. Sanchez and a passenger suffered minor injuries, police said. Police said officers found an open bottle of rum in the vehicle and marijuana on Ms. Sanchez. Ms. Sanchez has a pending court date in the township.

   Charles A. Shadle, 19, of Skillman, was charged Sept. 2 with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle and operating a vehicle without registration. Police said they stopped him at 5:54 p.m. on Sunset Road for driving with an expired registration, smelled marijuana and found the drug in the vehicle’s center console. Mr. Shadle was released on his own recognizance pending a court date.

   Terry Perkins, 57, of Hillsborough, was charged Aug. 29 with driving while intoxicated and careless driving. Police said they responded to a report of a single-car crash at 9:20 p.m. after a homeowner said a driver crashed into the landscaping of his home and was fleeing the scene on foot. Police said they found Mr. Perkins a short distance from the crash. He has a pending court appearance.
Plainsboro
   Police said someone entered a Linden Lane South residence between 7:15 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and stole several pieces of jewelry, whose exact value could not immediately be determined. Police said the thief entered the residence by forcing open a sunroom window at the rear of the building and then opening an unlocked sliding glass door. Police said it appeared the burglar only disturbed the master bedroom.
