AAUW to present tea tasting and awards

The American Association of University Women Freehold Branch will feature a Tea Tasting on Sept. 16 presented by Jane Graver from Ducky Life Tea. Various teas and light refreshments will be available for sampling.

Following the tea tasting, the two recipients of the AAUW Scholarships for Women will be presented with their awards.

Cheryl Ingerman, of Freehold, is a teacher in the Jackson School District and will receive the Leila Sulkes Scholarship. She is pursuing a Master of Education degree at Georgian Court University, Lakewood, and expects to graduate in May.

The Lew Williams Scholarship will be awarded to Jodie Petenko, of Marlboro, a kindergarten teacher who will graduate in May from Rutgers University with a Master of Education degree and certification as a learning disabilities teaching consultant.

Both scholarships are made possible by the organization’s annual book sale.

The meeting will conclude with Alexandra Roth discussing her new book about the Bernie Madoff scandal.

The meeting will be held at the Barkalow Middle School, Stillwells Corner Road, Freehold Township, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Guests are welcome. For more information, call 732-928-2478.
