COLTS NECK — The Colts Neck K-8 School District Board of Education is seeking a member of the public to join the board.
During the Sept. 1 meeting, the panel accepted the resignation of board member Thomas McHugh.
McHugh ran unopposed for re-election to the board in April 2009.
With McHugh’s departure there is now a vacancy on the nine-member panel. The person who is named to replace McHugh will serve through April 2011.
In April 2011 that seat on the board will be placed on the school election ballot.
Qualified candidates who would like to serve on the board must be citizens of the United States and have at least one year’s residency in the school district.
Candidates must be at least 18 years old, be registered to vote and not hold any office as mayor or member of the municipal governing body. He or she must also have no interest in any contract with, or claim against, the board.
Residents who would like to be considered for appointment to McHugh’s seat on the board should submit a résumé and a letter of interest to Business Administrator John Paredes. Résumés will be accepted through Oct. 6.
The board will review all qualified applicants. Interviews will be conducted in public session on Oct. 19, according to information posted on the district’s Internet website.
