Manufacturing is alive
Thursday, Sept. 16 – The Mercer Regional Chamber of Commerce will present Pascal Seradarian, CEO of Hutchinson Industries in Trenton, as he discusses how manufacturing is still alive and well in Trenton. Sponsored by Mercer Corporate Interiors and Eagle Maintenance and Janitorial, this luncheon will be held at KatManDu in Trenton. Networking begins at 11:30 a.m. and lunch is served at noon. Fall ministry kickoff
Saturday, Sept. 18 – The Allentown Presbyterian Church, 20 High St., Allentown, will host an Evening of Praise and Worship at 7 p.m. to kick off the fall ministry year. Everyone is invited.

Brandeis committee
Tuesday, Sept. 21 – At its open meeting at 2 p.m., the BUNWC Tri-County Chapter of the Brandeis National Committee will present Sharon S. Ellis-Champagne, CFP, vice president-investments with Wells Fargo Advisors. Certified by the National Center for Women and Retirement Research, Long Island University to conduct educational forums for women on investing, she will be speaking on how to make informed investment decisions.

Golf tournament
Friday, Oct. 1 – The Allentown Upper Freehold Lions Club will hold its annual Edward "Pop" Rockhill Memorial Golf Tournament at Gambler Ridge Golf Course. Lunch is at noon. Shotgun start is at 1 p.m. with dinner and prizes to follow. The entry fee is $125 per person, which includes beverages, lunch, dinner, greens fee, carts and prizes.

AHS reunion
Saturday, Oct. 2 – Allentown High School Class of 1990 will hold its 20-Year Reunion from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Scottish Rite Banquet Hall, 103 Dunns Mill Road, Bordentown. (Doors will open at 6:30 p.m.)

Paper shredding
Saturday, Oct. 2 – Plumsted Township and Main Street New Egypt will conduct a free paper-shredding event from 9 a.m. to noon in the rear of the municipal parking lot on Main Street in New Egypt (between Scott’s Market and Mid-Atlantic XTreme Sports).
The guidelines for participating are to remove all large binder clips from unwanted material, and each resident is limited to shredding ten boxes of paper per household. Staples and paper clips do not have to be removed from the unwanted material. No X-rays and no business or commercial paper waste will be accepted. Residents must have identification clearly showing their residence in Plumsted.

Watershed FEST
Saturday, Oct. 2 – The Stony Brook-Millstone Watershed Association, central New Jersey’s first environmental group, will hold Water Works: The 35th Annual Watershed FEST at 6:30 p.m. at the 860-acre Watershed Reserve in Hopewell.
This year’s FEST fundraiser combines fine food, music and fun with a celebration of the water and environment. The event includes cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, live music and a silent auction under a tent. It will conclude with dinner served by Emily’s Cafe and Catering and a fun live auction featuring the chance to take home trips, tickets, jewelry, restaurant packages and more.

Fall Festival
Saturday, Sunday, Oct. 9-10 – The Allentown Business Community Association is sponsoring this longtime event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. both days. Activities include live entertainment, an antique car show, a petting zoo, pony rides, make-your-own scarecrows and a Civil War encampment.

Annual 5-mile run, nature trail walk
Saturday, Oct. 16 – Robbinsville Township will host the 17th annual Tomm May 5 Mile Run and Nature Trail Fun Walk at Tantum Park in Robbinsville. The fun walk starts at 9:15 a.m. and the 5-mile run begins at 10 a.m.
Registration, if postmarked by Oct. 7, is $18 for the run and $12 for the fun walk. Short-sleeved shirts will be given to pre-registered entrants. Cash and merchandise prizes will be awarded in various male and female divisions. A disc jockey will provide music at the event and there will be free post-race food and refreshments.

Free paper shredding
Saturday, Oct. 23 – Robbinsville Township will hold a free residential paper-shredding event from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. (or until truck is filled) at the township firehouse, 1149 Route 130 North. Rain or shine. Proof of township residency required: driver’s license, tax bill or utility bill.
BRING: paper material and file folders, receipts, bills, financial statements or anything you have not recycled for confidentiality concerns. One hundred pound limit. DO NOT BRING: books, magazines and newspapers. These items can be disposed of through the regular curbside pickup service.

Farm market – The Millstone Township Agricultural Advisory Council is sponsoring a Community Farm Market every Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The farm market will be held at the municipal parking lot located at 470 Stage Coach Road (Route 571) and will feature locally grown produce, eggs, honey, plants and flowers. The public is welcome to come meet the club members and learn about the international, nonprofit organization that offers local, stay-at-home and part-time working moms support and the opportunity to share activities and experiences with other local moms and their children.
