American Legion Post 401, the Ladies Auxiliary and the Sons of the American Legion will kick off their annual food drive in support of the South Brunswick Food Pantry today (Thursday), which is also American Legion Day.
”American Legion Day was established by proclamation of the U.S. Congress last year as a way to recognize the Legion’s 90 years of service to our nation and our communities,” said Post 401 Commander Gary Cooper. “We decided to start our food drive now because our residents and our food bank need supplies now, not just for the holidays.”
Area residents may drop off non-perishable food donations at the American Legion Post 401 home, located at 148 Major Road in Monmouth Junction, anytime after 2 p.m., seven days a week.
”We ask that everyone coming to our karaoke dances or our Oktoberfest bring donations with them,” Mr. Cooper said.
