A Somerset County grand jury has indicted two South Brunswick residents on numerous charges relating to an August armed robbery in Montgomery.
Vincent Francis Caputo Jr., 20, and Krystin Nicole Donahue, 24, were indicted Sept. 9 on charges of robbery, unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, terroristic threats, and theft of a controlled dangerous substance.
The robbery occurred at about 6 p.m. Aug. 9 in the parking lot of the Pike Run Development Complex on Symes Drive. Acting county prosecutor Peter DeMarco Jr. said the indictment alleges Mr. Caputo and Ms. Donahue threatened two township residents with a knife and stole money and a prescription drug from the victims. Jack Bennett, communications director for the county prosecutor’s office and a retired captain, had no comment on whether the accused and the victims knew each other.
The next day, detectives with the prosecutor office’s Major Crimes Squad joined Montgomery and South Brunswick police in responding to a residence on Falcongate Drive in South Brunswick, where Ms. Donahue lives, and arrested the two without incident. The prosecutor’s office said a search of her residence and the vehicle used in the crime led to officials seizing items associated with the robbery.
Mr. Caputa was sent to Somerset County Jail in lieu of $100,000 bail with no option to post 10 percent for release, while Ms. Donahue was free Thursday on $100,000 bond on the condition she have no contact with the victims, Mr. Bennett said. Both are expected to appear in court for arraignment in four to six weeks, the prosecutor’s office said.
