A letter to congressmen Holt and Pallone

There are more than 5,000 retired service members living in this area that use the commissary, medical clinic and post exchange at Fort Monmouth.

Should those places close down, it would create a great hardship on these retired members of the armed forces. Most are living paycheck to paycheck.

Also, the closest place to shop would be at Fort Dix/McGuire Air Force Base, which is a two-hour drive, going back and forth. Plus, most of these retirees don’t own a car. Therefore, they must shop at local grocery stores, which are expensive.

And the loss of the clinic would create an even greater problem for them to get their medications. So, I am asking congressmen Pallone and Holt and the two senators to keep these places open.

Also, it would be great if any and all of the veterans that use these facilities write or call their congressman, anywhere in the state. The more people we get involved may help us to keep these facilities open.
