Auditions on tap for ‘Peter Pan Jr.’

The Hernandez Theatre Workshop Inc., and Mecca Entertainment, in collaboration with the city of South Amboy Department of Recreation, will produce the pilot production of “Disney’s Peter Pan Jr.” in the fall.T

he production will be used to test the script and performance materials and will contribute to the overall creative development of the show. Producers are seeking young performers ages 6-17 from across the region to fill numerous character and featured ensemble roles in the premiere production.

Auditions will be held by appointment only Sept. 18 at the South Amboy YMCA, 200 John T. O’Leary Boulevard. Performers may register for 9:30 a.m.-1 p.m. appointments using the audition-registration system found at www.hernandeztheatre.org. Students must come accompanied by a parent or guardian. Performers should bring 16 bars of sheet music of an up-tempo musical theatre song that displays character and vocal range. A-capella singing or CD tracks will not be allowed. A pianist will be provided. Callbacks will be held on the same day, and are by invitation only.

Performances are set for Nov. 19-21 at the South Amboy Middle/High School Theater.
