Strong midfield play by Kerwin Campos, Sam Koevenig, Cody Panek and Michael Zachor helped Brazil to a 3-1 win over Holland in Lawrence Hamnett Soccer Boys 9-10 World Cup play on opening day.
Brazil’s defense was anchored by Miraj Patel and Wilson Leon in front of goalies Ethan Strasfeld and Ryan McGann. Mohak Patel scored the decisive tally while Logan Miller and Steven Kenah added a goal apiece. Abhyan Jaikshen scored Holland’s lone goal off an assist from Kyle Jorgensen. Girls 5-6 Champions
Real Madrid came out in full force with Emily Chess and Olivia Drake leading the way while Maggie Gronenthal and Charlotte Luckey gave a strong defensive effort.
Barcelona had an impressive opener thanks to started the season out with an impressive showing in their first game thanks to the hustle of Ceclia Dziadowicz, Claire King, Sienna Cruz and Elizabeth Medich. Sky Blue was strong out of the gate as Molly Hart, Carly Brummel and Elizabeth Dorfman all netted goals and Katherine Dorfman and Sophie Fitzgerald protected ‘keeper Samantha Straub in her goalkeeping debut. Girls 11-13 World Cup
England got solid contributions from Melissa Rothenberg, Isabel Viggiano-Nini and Margaret Toole. Karoline Dapprich held steady in goal and got defensive help from Sarah Fox for the win
U.S.A.’s Erkoboni cousins, Jamie and Shannon, created offensive opportunities while Maggie and Fiona Zhou were an unstoppable sister combo. Emma Wilcox scored from outside the 18 and Josie Crafford showed strong hustle. Boys 5-6 Major Division
