On a June day in 95-degree heat and high humidity, a crew of three adults and four teens from the First Presbyterian Church of Matawan’s Mission Matawan visited my home to help me with minor repairs and yard work.
Mission Matawan lends a helping hand to the elderly, disabled and people who lack the resources to deal with such maintenance. What they did for me was nothing short of amazing. The teens could have joined scores of other teens walking the malls and keeping cool. Instead, they worked happily, transforming my front and back yards from unkempt eyesores to something pleasing to look at.
The volunteers of Mission Matawan are about love and service. I want to thank the church, Project Manager Diane Noble, work supervisor Ron Wolfe, the teenagers and the kind gentleman who drove them to my house.
