Mrs. Pomphrey, 79, a resident of Rumson for 56 years, died Sept 10, 2010, at Riverview Medical Center, Red Bank. She was a dental assistant and office manager for Dr. Jesse Greenberg and Dr. Kenneth Rosenkopf, retiring in 2006 after 59 years. Mrs. Pomphrey was predeceased by her husband, Walter J Pomphrey; a grandson, Cory Pomphrey; a brother, Harry Clayton; and a sister, Georgiana Currier. Surviving are her children, Susan Frankino of Boca Raton, Fla., and Walter “Brud” and his wife, Lori C. Pomphrey, of Rumson; four brothers and sisters-in-law, George and Evelyn Clayton of Cypress, Texas, William and Jeanne Clayton of Red Bank, Robert and Hedy Clayton of Middletown, and James and Ellen Clayton of Little Silver; a sister, Nancy Reed of Jacobstown; a sister-in-law, Jane Clayton; three grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
