Rash of car burglaries reported in Ocean Twp.

OCEAN TOWNSHIP — Police continue to urge residents to lock their vehicles after another rash of late-night car burglaries.

On Sept. 6, police investigated 18 incidents of car burglaries that occurred during the overnight hours in the Wanamassa, West Deal and Deal Park sections of the township, a township police press release said.

Cash, loose change, GPS units and small personal belongings were removed from unlocked vehicles parked on several streets, according to the press release.

Police are urging residents throughout the township to take extra care in locking their vehicles and to park in a lighted area at night whenever possible.

Also, remove portable electronic devices such as iPods, cell phones and GPS units from the vehicle when parking and leaving the vehicle, the press release advised.

Anyone who may have information or witnessed any suspicious activity on the night of the car burglaries is asked to contact the Ocean Township Police Detective Bureau at 732-531-1800.

If you suspect your vehicle was entered, please notify the police prior to going through it or driving it away.

According to the press release, the vehicles in the Wanamassa section were parked on Opdyke Avenue, Franklin Parkway, Spruce Avenue, Wardell Place and Appleby Drive.

The vehicles in the West Deal section were parked on Berkley Avenue, Beverly Avenue, Weston Avenue, Logan Road and Roseld Avenue.

The vehicles in the Deal Park section were parked on Grant Avenue and Crosby Avenue.
