WEST WINDSOR Best-selling children’s author and artist Tony DiTerlizzi will appear at the Barnes & Noble at Marketfair next week to kick off the start of his latest series, “The Search for WondLa.”
A former freelance artist who worked on the “Dungeons and Dragons” role-playing game, Mr. DiTerlizzi is perhaps best known for the fantasy series “The Spiderwick Chronicles,” which he created and wrote with Holly Black.
”Wondla” is a futuristic story focusing on Eva Nine, a girl raised by a robot on the planet Orbona and who is searching for other humans. The first in a planned trilogy, the book is already in development as a feature film through Paramount Pictures. The book will be released Sept. 21, the same day Mr. DiTerlizzi is set to appear at Barnes & Noble at 7 p.m. His appearance here will mark the beginning of his two-month book tour, and is the first event ever to promote the book.
The event is free, and seating will begin at 6 p.m. Mr. DiTerlizzi will draw and answer questions, and he will give out between 50 to 100 copies of the limited-edition “Wondla” sketchbook to the earliest attendees. He will also sign any of his former works with the purchase of a copy of “Wondla.”
