LETTER TO THE EDITOR:

What’s not to like?

Are you kidding me? Bordentown Committeeman Bill Morelli is "So angry he can spit"? Really? Spit?

He’s angry because a business would like to occupy an empty building within the township… one with weeds growing in the parking lot? One that will contribute to the tax base?

He’s angry because a few jobs may be offered to some of his unemployed constituents?

He claims the business looking to occupy what was the Acme store location caters to low demographic areas and that the median income where these stores are located is $52,000 per year, almost $20,000 lower than Bordentown Township’s median income.

I’ve checked, Bottom Dollar Food has stores in areas with median incomes ranging from $53,000 per year to $103,500 per year. Bordentown’s median income is listed at $60,131… not sure where Morelli gets his $72,000 figure, but even if he’s correct it’s still on the lower side of the Bottom Dollar Food median. But does it even matter? Don’t all Americans, rich or poor, have a right to eat?

Mr. Morelli, has Bottom Dollar Food broken any laws? Is Bordentown Township located in America? Isn’t a business, especially a business that is very similar to the one that previously
occupied that space, free to conduct business in a zone designated for the type of business it is?

I don’t live in Bordentown Township, but I frequent its restaurants, do my banking on Farnsworth Avenue, I often use the Post Office and enjoy a night of music at its record store. I was sorry to see Acme move. I remember reading of Bordentown Township residents being very upset that Acme moved. Here’s a chance to bring in a seemingly solid business. Committeeman Morelli’s "power trip" attitude makes me want to spit.

The old Acme building closed on July 27, 2007, over three years ago. I think the folks living in Bordentown Township may be happy to see a new business, especially one that can save them money, move into the neighborhood. Take a look at their website, view their sale fliyers, you may find you like their style. http://bottomdollarfood.com
