England topped Brazil, 4-1, thanks to numerous saves from goalie Karoline Dapprich, strong midfield play by Caroline Bohra and stellar defense from Sharon Mendez. Brazil fell despite great offensive pressure from Brazil’s Chloe Brensinger, Grace Raterman and Natalie Klek. Mia Rhodes scored Brazil’s lone goal and Morgan Slutzky and Jalyn Fleming excelled on defense in front of goalie Alexis Rhodes.
China took a 3-2 win over USA despite strong play by Emma Wilcox and Brooke Zellner in a losing effort.
Norway dropped a 3-2 heartbreaker to Germany despite two goals from Paige MacArthur. GIRLS 9-10
Kamila Karwowski had a steal that led to a score by Robyn Seidman in Australia’s hard-fought 3-2 win over New Zealand. Bridget Kane and Myah Rios scored Australia’s other tallies thanks to great play in the middle from Celia Marsh, Emily Whittaker and Claire Svoboda. Sami Posluszny and Julianna Okupski prevented several goals on defense with impressive clears, while goalies Zeeta Abubakar, Olivia Melvin, and Meg Gordon shared time in net. GIRLS 7-8
The Philadelphia Independence played well as Lily Carpinelli scored a goal, with excellent support from Josie Settembrino and Isabela Ricardo. Sara Kestenbaum and Jewell Baker stood stout in goal. Emma Spadea and Brianna Panek worked tirelessly throughout the match. 5-6 GIRLS
AS Roma and Real Madrid played a competitive game. Jennifer Miller and Brianna Olaoye led the way for Real Madrid with some strong kicks, while teammates Gabrielle Short and Teagen Sinkewicz provided great hustle. Ava Andrew and Emma Coyer guided AS Roma with great footwork. Ela Rachel Lewis played well in goal while Gwyneth Moore and Jacqueline Murdoch the ball well.
The Celtic improved its passing skills behind Katie Laitusis, Ciara Loughran and Mackenzie Esposito, while Susannah Weiss, Talia Schenck, Emily Francishini and Sofia Monetti scored goals. Strong defense was played by Jasmin Jordan and Sofia Garcia. BOYS 11-13
After being tied at halftime, Ghana broke away from Spain with four unanwered second-half goals to emerge with a 5-1 victory. David Madigan led the way with two goals, while stellar defense and goalkeeping by Audley Clarke and inspired midfield effort by Jeremy Wilson were critical to Ghana’s success.
Paraguay defeated Germany behind the offense of Eric Broadway and Tyler Markert. Jason Bravo, Shamyl Fazle and Jesse Steele provided quality assists, while Mark Immordino and Kyle Caccavale tended goal. Edward Ott, Jesse Steele and Shamyle Fazle anchored the defense. BOYS 9-10
Brazil overcame a 3-0 halftime deficit to tie England 3-3 in dramatic fashion. Strong defensive play from Miraj Patel, Wilson Leon and Ethan Strasfeld energized Brazil in the second half when Steven Kenah and Ryan McGann had a clean sheet in goal. Michael Zachor, Mohak Patel and Kerwin Campos excelled in the midfield and helped set up goals for Cody Panek, Logan Miller and Sam Koevenig. BOYS 7-8
Chelsea received tremendous efforts from Jai Council, Davin Jodoin, Matthew Laws, George Wright and Simon Cull in a strong weekend.
Stevan Perrino and Connor Monaghan supplied the offense for Manchester United, while Emmet Barria had an easy time in the goal thanks to the defense of Danny Delongaig and Cameron Blackman. Aramis Gutierrez had a big offensive game. BOYS 5-6
Noam Rios blocked several shots on goal, Stevie Lacasse showed marked improvement on the outside and Leo Girandola won tackles and made nice cuts on the ball to help the Union to a strong showing. Vikram Siva looked sharp in his first game of the season.
The Dynamo got goals from Luke Longo, Ryan Willever and Noah Lehrfeld, while Joshua Hundley and Zubin Gu ran tirelessly in transition. Carlos Espinoza and Nate Duff were good sports in switching over to play for the short-handed Earthquake, and each scored a goal.
