Manville Colts go 3-1 on season

By: Walt Mathewson
After starting out 2-0 with wins at Maplewood and Roselle Park, the Colts took out their frustration of the 34-0 loss to Clark last week with a 20-0 win over Metuchen to improve their record to 3-1.
The Metuchen game became a one-player show for Steven Bogantes, who had 128 yards on the ground and three touchdowns. The one-player show is only an expression because football is an 11-man team sport. The offense mustered 250 yards total from hard blocking and running from backs and linemen. Other backs with positive yards were Angelo Locham (29 yards) and an extra-point pass reception, Anthony Hernandez (29 yards), Tristen Jamie (17 yards), and Kyle Puza with 45 yards.
The blue line, though young, looked impressive and led to two touchdowns; on the line were Tyler Bowser, Allen Cullins, Gerard Booker, Jared Matisak, Billy Caswell, Justin and Katlyn Faulkner.
The defense looked strong with special plays from Puza with a fumble recovery and pass interception by Jermey Nurnberger.
Tackles of the day were led by Puza with 4, Steven Poto with 3, Erik Warren with 2 and 1 sack, and Jake Tokarzewski with 2.
The captains for the day were Erik Warren, Anthony Hernandez, and Jermey Nurnbereger.
Next week, the Colts will host Kenilworth at home.
