Lambertville police reported:
— On Sept. 9, Officer Anthony Memolo went to Wilson Street to investigate a report of a man who entered the victims’ residence, while they were out. Clifford Durell, 62, of Stockton was seen by the homeowners leaving the residence upon their arrival. Police said Mr. Durell had consumed a bottle of red wine located in the kitchen. Mr. Durell stated he goes in the house a few times a week to see the owners’ dog. Mr. Durell was charged with criminal trespassing.
— On Sept. 9, Officer Kenneth Housman went to North Union Street to investigate a report of an argument. An unidentified woman said she had argued with her boyfriend, who had stabbed her. A small laceration was found on the woman’s right shoulder. She declined medical attention. She turned over the kitchen knife, which was used to stab her. Jewell Marshall, 53, of Lambertville was transported to headquarters and charged with aggravated assault, simple assault, possession of weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. Bail was set at $10,000 (10 percent). He was then transported to the Hunterdon County Jail in default of bail.
— On Sept. 2, Howard Bilbee, 59, of Levittown, Pa., reported a theft of $1,960 from his business account. Seven checks written out to Mr. Bilbee’s employee, Chipper Wyckoff, were cashed. Police said Mr. Wyckoff is not authorized to sign checks. Mr. Wyckoff was charged with theft of movable property and forgery. He was released, pending a court date.
Also on Sept. 2, Mr. Bilbee, who is head of maintenance at the Hibernia Apartment Complex in Lambertville reported a theft of approximately $2,000 worth of copper pipe from the maintenance room. Mr. Bilbee told the officer that his employee, Mr. Wyckoff, removed the copper pipe without his permission. Mr. Wyckoff was charged with theft of movable property and released, pending a court date.
— On Sept. 1, Officer Michael Miloszar was conducting radar enforcement on Bridge Street when a black Jaguar, traveling on the Lambertville-New Hope bridge, was going 48 mph in a 15-mph zone. The vehicle was stopped at the intersection of Routes 179 and 29. While requesting credentials, the officer noted a strong odor of alcohol was coming from the vehicle. The driver, Andrew Gillman, 18, of New Hope, and his passenger Eric Norton, 18, of Solebury, were found to be in possession of five open bottles of rum. Both were transported to headquarters. Mr. Gillman was charged with underage DUI, reckless driving, open container, speeding and underage possession of alcohol. Mr. Norton was charged with failure to wear seatbelt, open container and underage possession of alcohol.
— On Sept. 9, Sgt. Robert Brown saw several vehicles exiting the “Old High School” on Washington Street. One of the vehicles turned onto Route 179, crossing over the lines into the northbound lane. The vehicle was stopped on Route 179 near North Franklin Street. The driver was a 16-year-old boy, who lives in Levittown. The driver was asked if there was anything illegal in the vehicle. Police said he hesitated and wasn’t sure. The driver was then pat searched, which revealed a set of brass knuckles in his back pocket. He was charged with possession of an unlawful weapon and released pending a court date.
— On Sept. 11, Officer Joseph Weber saw Christopher Burket, 39, of Lambertville, walking on York Street. Mr. Burket was known to have two outstanding criminal warrants with Lambertville Municipal Court. One is for receiving stolen property and the other for criminal trespassing. After posting bail, he was released.
—On Sept. 19, a passing motorist notified Hunterdon County Communications about a large black bear observed in the area of Route 202, at the Route 29 exit. The caller said the bear appeared to be heading into the residential area of Lambertville. Officer Joseph Weber searched the area extensively, to no avail. However, during his search, several residents on Blair Tract/Malloy Tract confirmed seeing the bear.
— On Sept. 15, Officer Michael Miloszar, while on routine patrol, saw a BMW traveling 40 mph in a posted 25-mph zone. A motor vehicle stop was made on Perry Street. While asking for credentials, the officer smelled an odor of an alcoholic beverage coming from the interior of the car. The driver was identified as Elaine Kline, 20, of South Union Street. After performing field sobriety tests, Ms. Kline was transported to headquarters, processed and issued summonses for DUI, reckless driving and speeding. She was released to her mother.
