TRENTON – An East Windsor man was shot and killed at his Trenton Laundromat on Friday morning in a botched robbery attempt.
Ambreesh D. Patel, 33, was shot and killed at James Dry Cleaners, 905 Parkside Ave., in a brazen, broad-daylight robbery gone wrong, Trenton police said. Mr. Patel was killed around 11:44 a.m.
According to detectives, an African-American male demanded money from the shopkeeper. When he refused, Mr. Patel was shot in the chest. The suspect was described as 18-22 years old. At the time of the shooting, he was wearing dark pants and a dark top. The suspect fled on foot from the scene of the crime, across Parkside Avenue and disappeared in an area near abandoned railroad tracks.
Mr. Patel was pronounced dead at the scene by medical responders.
