PLUMSTED – The Plumsted Board of Education is advertising an opening on its website for a seat on the board following the resignation of Keith Buckalew.
Superintendent Mark DeMareo said Mr. Buckalew offered his resignation Sept. 22, effective immediately.
The vacancy was posted the next day, as well as on the websites of the district’s four schools.
Mr. Buckalew was elected to the board last year and previously served from 1994 to 2002. He could not be reached for comment before The Messenger-Press deadline.
The board would like to conduct interviews with prospective candidates at its Oct. 13 workshop meeting, and make an appointment at the regular meeting scheduled for Oct. 27, according to the superintendent.
Interested applicants should send a resume and letter of interest by Oct. 6 to James Strimple, Business Administrator/Board Secretary, Plumstead Township Board of Education, 117 Evergreen Road, New Egypt, NJ, 08533.
To become a member of a local board of education in New Jersey, candidates must be able to read and write, hold citizenship and one year’s residency in the district, have no interest in any contract with, or claim against the board, not hold office as mayor or member of the municipal governing body, and be registered to vote in the district.
Resumes and letters of interest must be received by the close of business Oct. 6.
