Golfers and tennis buffs will help fight cancer Monday by participating in the American Cancer Society’s 25th Annual Golf and Tennis Classic. The Oct. 4 event, a major fundraiser for the Cancer Society’s Central New Jersey Region, will be held at the Greenacres Country Club in Lawrence.
This year’s outing will feature scramble golf and tennis tournaments as well as a box lunch, cocktail reception, and dinner. Players can also compete in a $10,000 Putting Contest for the prize of a 2011 Lexus donated by Lawrence Lexus or try their hand in a Texas Hold ‘Em poker tournament. Many attendees will also take home great prizes donated by local businesses.
Te cost to participate is $450 per individual golfer and $225 per tennis player.
Co-chairing the golf tournament are Tom Stange of National Business Parks Inc. and Dom Gennello of GenTech Systems. Serving as tennis co-chairs are David Botwinick of Stark & Stark and Paul Kramer.
"Our Classic has always been a fun and relaxing day to help raise awareness and important funds needed to support cancer research, education, and patient programs,"said Kristen Apen, senior director of special events for the American Cancer Society. " In this, our 25th anniversary year, we are happily on track to surpass last year’s event."
