The following is a wrap-up of this week’s Lawrence Hamnett recreation soccer results. GIRLS 11-13
Norway won twice over the weekend as Shaye Lipskind scored four goals in a 4-3 victory over Brazil. Norway followed with a 4-1 win over China as Mia Cribb scored two goals, Lipskind notched the game-winner and Eden Briggs also scored. Njeri Robinson, Vivian Mayr and Daniela Logan played well in goal, while Madison Esposito, Paige MacArthur, and Kelly Townsend covered the field well. Karolina Zachor scored China’s goal off a nice pass from Kelly Wert. Kinsey Ratzman, Leanna Smith and Emily Herrera excelled on defense for China.
Chloe Brensinger’s two assists led the way for Brazil, while Mia Rhodes tallied twice and Brielle Samuels and Natalie Klek added one goal apiece. Morgan Slutsky provided great leadership, and Alexis Rhodes, Jalyn Fleming, and Jaylah Samuels all had great games in the midfield.
USA and England played to a 6-6 tie as Melissa Rothenberg scored numerous goals while Emma Wilcox, Brea and Brynna Zellner and Sharon Mendez contributed. Defenders Jennifer Mendez, Sarah Fox, Karoline Dapprich, Hannah McGann and newcomer Jailine Minera played well while strong midfield contributions came from Rachel Birkbeck, Maggie and Fiona Zhou, Caroline Bohra, Brooke Zellner and Sarah Tennant. Maggie Toole and Isabelle Vigiano-Nini were both tenacious in goal for England. Shalini Ramaswamy and Josie Crafford were also tough. GIRLS 9-10
Sweden defeated New Zealand, 4-2, in its first game over the weekend behind two goals apiece from Madison Miller and Heidi Turner. Lydia Wilcox had two assists while Vic Pirozzi and Danielle Gershen were impressive in goal. Sweden followed with an 8-5 triumph over Australia as Lydia Wilcox exploded for five goals. Turner (two goals) and Miller rounded out the scoring and Angela Pursell had two assists.
Franc Eisele had three goals as Canada bested Australia, 5-0, before suffering its first setback of the season in a 4-3 defeat to New Zealand. Taylore Hundley scored a goal with from Alexys Hundley against Australia, while Catherine Kildea also tallied. Eisele had two more goals in the life and Hundley scored a highlight-reel goal. ‘Keepers Gabriella Araneta and Isabella Monacchio put forth strong efforts in goal. GIRLS 7-8
Katie Malyszka, Carly Cheewah, Ashleigh Patasnick, and Tashay Moore helped provide a strong weekend for the Atlanta Beat, while Barrett Miller and Britney Chia scored goals. Malyszka, Britney Chia, Melanie Gonzalez, Lillian Rutt, Maeve Evanovich, and Graciella Monetti played well in goal, while Patasnick, Miller, Moore and Bianca Sierra were forceful on the attack.
New Jersey Sky Blue had a big week as Carly Brummel and Audrey Ihlefeld showed good skills, Sahana Viswanathan and Sofia Fitzgerald provided strong defense, and Kendra Dempsey and Molly Hart continued as team leaders. GIRLS 5-6
Roma got aggressive defense from Gwyneth Moore and Kate Spadea and strong offense from Rebecca Willner and Courtney Williams.
Real Madrid’s Emma Quattrochi’s and Kirsten Steege’s displayed strong passing skills and Lydia Zeleznik provided strong defense.
In her season debut, Isabella Timberlake came out blazing for the Barcelona Blast. Claire King, Sienna Cruz and Elizabeth Medich matched her energy; Jahlasia Gibl and Emily Jorgensen were offensive contributors and Ailish Humphreys, Cecilia Dziadowicz and Gianna Pangaldi displayed defensive prowess. Trinity Fier and Taylor Foret controlled the ball well. BOYS 5-6
Dylan Cox, Matthew Tran, and Nabeel Hasan were goal scoring machines for the Philadelphia Union, while Benjamin Lovvoll and Ethan Wang made key clears on defense and Tommy Carpinelli showed nice offensive moves. BOYS 7-8
Chelsea received tremendous efforts from Jared Featherston, Samuel Fura, Jordan Godbolt, Maxwell Henry and Raj Patel. BOYS 9-10
Brazil won two tough contests behind the goal scoring of Cody Panek, Sam Koevenig, Michael Zachor, Logan Miller, Ryan McGann and Kerwin Campos. Excellent goaltending was provided by Ethan Strasfeld and Mohak Patel, while Steven Kenah, Miraj Patel and Wilson Leon played strong defense. BOYS 11-13
Ghana notched two wins to move to 3-0. In a 6-3 triumph over Uraguay, Audley Clarke, Michael Draps, Anthony Moore, Nikolas Lavery, David Madigan and Colin Gregory (from Kyle Smith) had goals. In a come-from-behind 6-5 win over Germany, Clarke registered a hat trick, Gregory scored twice and Anthony Moore added a goal. Nicholas Peist, Tommy Seals, Jeremy Wilson, Angel Conde, Matthew Kim and Ralph Delauretis also contributed.
Uraguay tied Paraguay, 1-1, when Sujay Shetty scored on a pass from Parker Strasfeld. The match featured strong defensive play by Sam Snyder and Jack Weber, and an outstanding performance in goal by Quincy Washington.
