The Hopewell Valley 160s are finding out that teams can’t take a weekend off in the Burlington County Pop Warner League.
The Lawnside Jaguars scored two second-half touchdowns to earn a 14-14 tie against the previously unbeaten and untied Bulldogs.
HoVal took an 8-0 lead when Matt Semple hit Drew Wiley with a 45-yard touchdown pass and Semple kicked the extra point. The lead was expanded when safety Lawrence Stevens returned an interception 30 yards for a TD to make it 14-0.The tie put the Bulldogs at 3-0-1 and kept it in first place. Other contributors to the deadlock were Carson Vey, Will Cusma, Lorenzo Bryant, Darren Basich, Matt Graziano, Jeff Wiley, Ralfy Balestrieri, Kadeem Neill, Ricky Guest, Zayne Papewhite, Myles Ackerson, Andrew Field, Luke Momo, Jon Marut, Justin Henderson and Larry Green.
The Tiny Mites dropped a 12-0 decision to Cinnaminson despite some hard running from Tyler Jameson, DJ Hunt, Danny Nini and Nick Powers behind the blocking of Robbie Avanzato, Emmitt Butler, Billy O’Connor, Ryan Cenicola and Joey Vannozzi.
The Bulldog defense got big hits from Trevor Sirak, Alex Robbins, Lucas Ferry, Jameson, Jacob Venezia, Kyle Machusak and Brooks Hogan.
A week earlier, the Tiny Mites won their first of the season, 12-6, as Jameson ran for two touchdowns and got strong blocking from Luke Harrison, Anthony Argiropolous, Ryan Kuukevere and Jay Long.
The defense dominated with big hits from Tyrek Byrd, Jack Stanton, Wyatt Hartman, Jayden Byrd, Machusak, Nick Powers, Sirak, Ferry and Avanzato.
