With rings on their fingers and devotion in their heart for music education, 10 leading ladies of Lawrence are donating their jewelry to be sold at an Oct. 9 jewelry and yard sale to benefit programming and a trip to New Orleans for 50 music students from Lawrence High School.
The sale goes from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Lawrence High School cafeteria.
Ladies donating jewelry to the sale are:
Michelle Cash, vice president, grants and programs, Princeton Area Community Foundation; Anne Demarais, co-director, Friends of the Lawrence Township Greenway; Pepper Evans, president, Lawrence Education Foundation; Eleanor Horne, co-president, Lawrence-Hopewell Trail; Cam Kreger, president, Garden Gate Garden Club; Lisa McCormick Lavery, director of donor operations for Resource Mobilization at the International AIDS Vaccine Initiative; Cathi Macheda, service unit co-manager, Lawrence-Ewing-Trenton Girl Scouts; Connie Mercer, executive director, HomeFront; Laura Nawrocik, president, Lawrence Historical Society and Carol Nicholas, board member, Lawrence Nature Center, recently posed for publicity photographs to promote the sale organized by LIMBO (Lawrence Instrumental Boosters Organization), made up of parents of the music students. To increase jewelry sales for the students, LIMBO co-president Liliana Attar is organizing a jewelry-making workshop for Lawrence High music students at her home.
Ms. Macheda also made the necklace that she is donating to the sale – a triple-strand, red and amber-colored bead nifty number anchored by a copper pendant. The jewelry will include sterling, semi-precious stones, turquoise, costume and vintage jewelry.
The yard sale will offer small furniture, electronics, holiday decorations, sports equipment, linens, housewares, family clothing, china, toys, pool supplies and books.
Music teacher Lee Neamand is escorting the students to New Orleans for the French Quarter Festival. Lawrence High’s music program was named among the Best 100 Communities for Music Education in America in 2005, 2008, 2009 and 2010.
