A school bus was destroyed by fire, but no one was injured in the Monday afternoon incident on I-95, according to New Jersey State Police Sgt. Julian Castellanos.
The school bus was traveling north on I-95 near Exit 7 when a fire broke out on the bus, which was owned by the Rick Bus Co., at 3:52 p.m., Sgt. Castellanos said.
The children were escorted off the school bus, and another bus was sent to pick them up, Sgt. Castellanos said. He did not know the ages of the children or the school that they attended.
The interstate highway was shut down briefly, Sgt. Castellanos said. Troopers from Troop C Headquarters in Hamilton Township were investigating the fire.
