Hopewell 160s clinch first place with victory over Delran

The Hopewell Valley 160s clinched first-place in the Burlington County Pop Warner League by taking a 29-0 win over the Delran Bears. That gave the Bulldogs a 4-0-1 division mark. Halfback Lawrence Stevens scored on a 35-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and Matt Semple’s extra point made it 8-0. Ralfy Balestrieri’s fumble recovery at the Bears five set up Lorenzo Bryant’s touchdown run to push the lead to 15-0.
In the second half, Kadeem Neill blocked a punt and Darren Basich scooped it up and ran 35 yards for the score. The final TD came when Basich found Drew Wiley in the flat and Wiley ran 30 yards for the score.
Other key contributors were Matt Graziano, Carson Vey, Will Cusma, Jeff Wiley, Ricky Guest, Luke Momo, Andrew Field, Myles Ackerson, Zayne Papewhite, Jon Marut, Justin Henderson and Larry Green.
Hopewell hosts Cinnaminson at 3 p.m. Sunday.
