POLICE BLOTTER: Week of Oct. 8

Princeton Borough
   Daniel Diperi, 25, of West Milford, was charged with driving while intoxicated after he was stopped for speeding on Prospect Avenue at 1:54 a.m. Oct. 2, police said. He was released on his own recognizance.

   Vincent Diperi, 21, of West Milford, was charged with criminal mischief and disorderly conduct at the Princeton Borough Municipal Building at 3:46 a.m. Oct. 2, police said.
   According to police, Mr. Diperi came to police headquarters to take custody of his brother, Daniel Diperi, who had been charged with driving while intoxicated. While in the building, Vincent Diperi became disorderly and kicked and damaged property belonging to the borough, police said. He was released on his own recognizance.

   Spencer Zakarin, 21, of New York, was charged with driving while intoxicated after he was stopped on Nassau Street at 11:47 p.m. Oct. 1, police said. He was released on his own recognizance.

   John Bennett, 26, of Laurel Parkway, was charged with driving while intoxicated after police received a report of a male sleeping behind the wheel of a motor vehicle parted on University Place at 2:58 a.m. Oct. 3, police said.
   Mr. Bennett was released on his own recognizance.

   Thomas Hood, 41, of Broward County, Fla., was charged with driving while intoxicated after he was stopped on Spruce Street at 1:46 a.m. Oct. 3 for disregarding a stop sign, police said. He was released on his own recognizance.

   Luis Garcia, 29, of Revere Avenue, was charged with driving while intoxicated after he was stopped on Bayard Lane at 3:23 a.m. Oct. 3 for failure to keep right. He was released on his own recognizance.
Montgomery
   Espree Z. Vandervoort, 21, of Somerville, was charged Sunday with speeding, failure to inspect and driving while suspended. Police said they stopped her at 3 a.m. on Route 206 near Orchard Road for speeding and learned she had a suspended license and a $350 warrant. She was released pending court appearances in the township and in Westhampton.

   A 17-year-old Montgomery boy was charged Oct. 1 with possession of fewer than 50 grams of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle, speeding and failure to stop or yield. Police said they stopped him at 5:13 p.m. on Harlingen Road for failing to stop at a stop sign at Wood Violet Way and Corn Flower Court. Police said they smelled marijuana and then found a marijuana pipe in the vehicle’s center console. Police said they also found a plastic container with fewer than 50 grams of marijuana inside it. The boy was turned over to his father.
Plainsboro
   Police reported two incidents of the theft of copper materials from Midwest Mechanical at the construction site of the University Medical Center Princeton at Plainsboro.
   Between 8 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday, police said someone stole 250 feet of copper pipes, valued at a total of $5,000, from the fifth floor of the site. Police said the project engineer reported finding 50 feet of the pipe, valued at $250, bound together with duct tape and left in a staircase leading to the fifth floor.
   Between Oct. 1 and Monday, police said someone stole approximately $15,000 in copper tubing.
West Windsor
   Police are seeking a man they say robbed a Providence Drive residence Wednesday morning.
   Police said they responded to the residence at 11:05 a.m. to investigate a report of the burglary in progress. The resident told police she had come home and begun cooking in the kitchen when she heard noises in an upstairs bedroom. The woman reportedly thought she was alone and so walked to the foyer, where she saw a man descending the staircase carrying a black bag. When she confronted him and told him to stop, police said, the man pushed her out of the way and ran through a rear door in the house, and as he did so items he had taken from the house fell from the bag.
   Police reported searching the area thoroughly with the assistance of a K9 officer from Lawrence, but the suspect was not apprehended. Police described the man as white, in his late 20s or early 30s, between 5 feet 10 inches and 6 feet tall, with a stocky build and short blond-reddish hair and blue eyes. The man was reportedly wearing a black T-shirt, pants with a white stripe and gloves and had a scarf wrapped around his face that covered his nose and mouth.

   Someone forced entry through a rear door at a Monterey Drive residence between 11:20 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Sept. 29 and stole a $170 safe containing personal items, police said.

   Jason Robert Mudd, 30, of Kansas City, Mo. was charged Sept. 29 with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving and failure to maintain lane. Police said they stopped him at 2:17 a.m. at Route 1 and Carnegie Center Boulevard for failing to maintain a lane and that he failed field sobriety tests. He was released pending court.
