New Jersey 12th Congressional District Representative Rush Holt, Democrat, and challenger, Scott Sipprelle, Republican, are holding their first public debate today (Oct. 14) at 11:45 a.m. at Rider University’s Yvonne Theatre in the Fine Arts Hall, Route 206, Lawrenceville.
The one-hour debate – to help prepare district voters for the Nov. 2 general election – is free and open to the public. Doors open at 11:15 a.m.
Benjamin Dworkin, director of the Rebovich Institute for New Jersey Politics at Rider, will moderate and develop questions. The format does not allow for questions from the audience.
The Institute is co-sponsoring the debate with Hopewell Valley, Lawrence and Princeton area members of the League of Women Voters. The debate will be streamed live on Rider’s website: www.rider.edu/rebovich, and clips will be available there for viewing after the event.
Rep. Holt is a resident of Hopewell Township (Mercer). Mr. Sipprelle is a resident of Princeton (Mercer).
The 12th District contains portions of five counties – Hunterdon, Mercer, Middlesex, Monmouth and Somerset – and 44 municipalities. Hunterdon towns include Lambertville, Stockton, West Amwell Township, Delaware Township, East Amwell Township, Franklin Township, Frenchtown and Kingwood Township.
