The Montgomery Township Economic Development Commission (EDC) will present its semi-annual business forum on Oct. 19. James W. Hughes, dean of the Edward J. Bloustein School of Planning and Public Policy, Rutgers University, will speak on the state of the U.S. economy and the state of the New Jersey economy.
The program, from 6 to 8 p.m., is free to all. It will be held at the Princeton Elks at 354 Route 518 in Blawenburg section of Montgomery. Committeewoman Louise Wilson, who arranged for the speaker, will give opening remarks. Dr. Hughes’ presentation will focus on the state of the U.S. economy and the state of the New Jersey economy and their linkage.
Even in a tough economy, Montgomery has a plethora of advantages, Dr. Hughes notes. "You have a good school system, the community is environmentally attractive and you have access to a whole level of sophisticated knowledge-based jobs," Dr. Hughes said. "You still have a lot of the charm [of an agrarian community]."
