The annual Greater Bordentown Area CROP walk will be held on Sunday, Oct. 17, starting at 2 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Bordentown. This is a 10K (six mile) walk through historic Bordentown City in which walkers get pledges from sponsors to raise money to help stop world hunger. The walk will end with refreshments served at the Trinity United Methodist Church.
This inter-faith event had participants from 10 local congregations last year and raised over $3,000. Twenty-five percent of the money remained in the community and was given to the local food pantry located at St. Mary’s Church. The First Baptist Church of Bordentown is having a Bring-a-Friend Sunday on Oct. 17. People in the community are invited to Sunday school at 9 a.m. The 10:15 worship service will include a hymn sing and special music by the choir. The Rev. Jay Rambo, pastor, will preach a first-person sermon on a Biblical character. A coffee hour will follow after worship. Nursery room is available for children up to first grade.
The Mission Fire Company will hold its annual Fire Prevention and Safety Show Open House at the firehouse, 51 Groveville Road, Bordentown Township, Friday, Oct. 15, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. with safety demonstrations, dress up stations, and kids will be able to spray a fire hose.

Bordentown Township and the Moorestown Visiting Nurse Association will host a flu clinic Tuesday, Oct. 19, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Senior Community Center, 3 Municipal Drive.The clinic accepts Medicare Part B for a free flu shot (bring your card). The regular cost is $30 for the flu shot and $45 for the pneumonia shot. The pneumonia shot will be given only to those ages 65 and older. The Consolidated Fire Association is sponsoring the House Decorating Contest in conjunction with the annual Bordentown Halloween Parade.
