Josh Elkes of Freehold, a Brookdale Community College trustee and owner of Direct Title of Freehold, was named a commissioner for the New Jersey Real Estate Commission by Gov. Chris Christie. The commission consists of five brokers, two members of the public and a member of the banking and insurance staff. Elkes’ responsibilities include setting policy for the commission, serving as a hearing examiner for people accused of violating state regulations, licensing, disciplinary hearings and curriculum training. His term will be for three years.
The Jewish Foundation for the Righteous (JFR), a nonprofit organization that identifies, honors and financially supports aged and needy non-Jews who risked their lives to rescue Jews during the Holocaust, announced that Larissa Shulman, of New York, N.Y, formerly of Colts Neck, has been named a program associate in its education department.
“Larissa’s dedication to Holocaust studies and teacher education will be an asset to us as we work with educators and students across the United States,” said JFR Executive Vice President Stanlee Stahl
Shulman holds a bachelor’s degree from Cornell University where she majored in history.
Prior to joining the JFR, Shulman volunteered at the Brookdale Center for Holocaust Studies, now the Brookdale Center for Holocaust, Human Rights and Genocide Education, Lincroft, where she assisted the director with the center’s educational programming.

Dr. Marc Cohen, Marlboro Podiatry Center, has been appointed clinical assistant professor (adjunct) at the Temple University College of Podiatric Medicine, Philadelphia. He is a former assistant clinical professor at Weil College of Medicine, Cornell Medical School. Cohen is an attending physician at Jersey Shore University Medical Center, Neptune, and at CentraState Medical Center, Freehold Township. He has been practicing podiatric medicine and surgery in Manalapan for more than 25 years.
