Junior Raven 75s rebound for a win

The Robbinsville PAL Junior Ravens 75’s, comprised of 19 boys ages seven and eight (including 18 first-year players) returned home on Saturday to face SJIYFA NFC North division rival St. Pete’s.
The 75’s were coming off a strong performance in a heartbreaking 19-13 road loss in double overtime to the Lumberton Hurricanes, the defending SJIYFA 75-pound champions. Turning in their best all-around effort of the season – despite the absence of two-way standout Sean Vernon – Robbinsville earned a 19-6 victory over the always-tough Saints.
The Junior Ravens offense was led by the explosive "T N’ T" combination of quarterback Brian Tierney and running back Colin Tonry. Tierney turned in several impressive runs, including two long, electric trips to the end zone. Tonry added a nifty touchdown scamper of his own and an extra point run after Tierney’s first score.
Tierney and Tonry’s exploits were made possible by the blocking of backfield mates Keith Motusesky and Shane Martin and yeoman work on the offensive line. Center Matt Cooper continued to anchor the unit with smart, error-free play. Eric Calabro also played well at the center spot. Guards Luke Aromando, Garrett Perone and Sean Evans, tackles Aaden Butler, Cameron Coyle and Nick Winter and ends Robbie Lotito and Kyle Johnson gave the Raven runners room to roam.
The Ravens defense kept the Saints off the scoreboard until late in the game. Defensive end/linebacker Motusesky led the way with several big hits. Linebackers Butler, Lotito, Cooper and Johnson each turned in high-impact plays, as did Tonry at defensive end and Matt McArthur at defensive tackle. Jake Perrine was stout at nose guard. Tyler Bork (defensive end) and Julien Lester (safety) also made important contributions. And the special teams, led by Lotito’s booming kickoffs, enabled the Ravens to win the field position battle.
