Sunday afternoon the Manville Colts got back on track with a 19-8 victory over Middlesex to bring their record to 5-2, and continue on their playoff hunt.
Before kickoff the Colts presented their parents with flowers for Parent’s Day and let them watch as they got another win. Captains Erik Warren, Katlyn Faulkner, Justin Faulkner and Jake Tokarzewski got the day started.
The Colts offense, led by QBs Sebastian Galves and Jeremy Nurnberger, accounted for 299 yards; 283 on the ground and 16 in the air. Steven Bogantes had 190 yards and 1 TD, Kyle Puza had 69 yards, 2 TDs and an 8 yards pass reception from Galves. Angelo Locham had 40 yards, Tristan Jamie with 12 yards, and Chris Garcia with 12 yards and an 8 yard pass from Galves. Galves also added the extra point with a fake pass-run.
Defensively the Colts played well enough to keep Middlesex off balance but had one brake-down which led to their score. Troy Oset led the team in tackles with 4 followed by Scott Caswell and Puza with 3. Puza also had a fumble recovery. Bogantes and Jamie each had 2 with other tackles by Warren, Nurnberger, and Steven Poto.
Next week the Colts have a rematch with Metuchen at home.
